Professional Dry Cleaning Service

Some clothes simply do not like water. Wool can shrink, silk can lose its sheen and structured jackets can lose their shape in a washing machine. Dry cleaning uses a specialised cleaning solvent instead of water, so delicate fibres and tailored construction are treated far more gently.

About This Service

Every garment that comes to us for dry cleaning is checked against its care label first. We look at the fabric, the lining, buttons and trims, and note any marks you have pointed out so they can be pre-treated before the main clean.

After cleaning, garments are pressed or steamed to restore a crisp finish, then given a final check before packing. If we notice anything that needs your attention, such as a loose button or a mark that has not fully lifted, we will tell you rather than hide it.

What We Clean

  • Wool coats, trousers and knitwear
  • Silk shirts, dresses and scarves
  • Tailored blazers and structured jackets
  • Formal and occasion wear
  • Lined and embellished garments
  • Anything labelled “dry clean only”

Before You Book: Care Considerations

  • Check the care label. A crossed-out circle means the garment should not be dry cleaned, and we will discuss alternatives with you.
  • Tell us what caused a stain and how long it has been there. Food, oil, ink and make-up each need a different pre-treatment.
  • Empty all pockets. Pens, lipsticks and tissues can damage a whole load.
  • Avoid ironing over a stain at home first. Heat can set some stains permanently.

Our Process

  1. Inspection & tagging

We record the garment, its care label and any stains or existing damage.

  2. Stain pre-treatment

Marked spots are treated with a method suited to the stain and fibre.

  3. Solvent cleaning

The garment is cleaned in solvent, which lifts oils and soil without soaking the fibres in water.

  4. Finishing

Pressing or steaming restores shape, creases and collars.

  5. Final check & packing

A last look before the garment is hung or folded, ready for you.

Please note

Dry cleaning removes many stains, but not all of them. Old, heat-set or dye-based stains (such as some inks, turmeric or rust) may only fade or may not lift at all. Some decorative trims, glued sequins and bonded fabrics may not tolerate solvent. Where we think there is a risk, we will advise you before cleaning.

FAQs

Dry Cleaning Questions

What is the difference between dry cleaning and washing?

Dry cleaning uses a liquid solvent instead of water and detergent. It is gentler on fibres that shrink, felt or distort in water, such as wool and silk, and on garments with structured construction.

How do I know if a garment needs dry cleaning?

Check the care label. A plain circle symbol, or the words “dry clean only”, mean dry cleaning is recommended. If there is no label, bring it in and we will advise you.

Will dry cleaning remove every stain?

Not always. Results depend on the type of stain, the fabric and how long the stain has been there. Telling us what caused the stain gives the best chance of success.
