Leather & Suede Garment Cleaning

Leather and suede are natural materials with their own texture, grain and character. They react badly to ordinary washing and to many household cleaners. Our leather garment cleaning service uses methods intended specifically for leather and suede, helping your jacket look cared for without stripping its natural finish.

About This Service

Every leather item is inspected before cleaning. We look at the type of leather or suede, the colour, the lining and any wear, scuffs or stains. Not every leather garment is suitable for cleaning, and we will tell you if we think an item is at risk.

Where suitable, cleaning is followed by conditioning for smooth leathers, or careful brushing to lift the nap on suede.

What We Clean

  • Leather jackets and coats
  • Suede jackets
  • Leather-trimmed garments
  • Faux leather (subject to inspection)
  • Leather waistcoats

Before You Book: Care Considerations

  • Leather is a natural material, so colour and texture can vary slightly after cleaning, especially on older or dyed pieces.
  • Keep leather away from direct heat and damp; never dry a wet leather jacket on a heater.
  • Avoid household sprays, wipes or polishes on leather garments; they can stain or dry the surface.
  • Some faux leather (PU) can peel with age, and cleaning cannot prevent this.

Our Process

  1. Inspection

Leather type, colour, lining and wear are assessed.

  2. Surface cleaning

Dirt and marks are treated with leather-appropriate methods.

  3. Conditioning or brushing

Smooth leather is conditioned; suede nap is restored by brushing.

  4. Final check

The garment is checked and hung for collection.

Please note

Scratches, cracks, peeling, heavy fading and deep stains such as ink or oil may not be removable. Slight colour change is possible with any leather cleaning. Faux leather that is already peeling cannot be restored.

FAQs

Leather Garment Cleaning Questions

Can leather jackets be dry cleaned?

Leather needs specialist cleaning rather than standard dry cleaning. We assess each garment first and use methods suited to leather or suede.

Will cleaning change the colour of my leather jacket?

Slight variation is possible because leather is a natural, dyed material. We will mention any higher-risk items before cleaning.

How should I store a leather jacket?

Hang it on a broad hanger in a cool, dry place with good air circulation, in a breathable cover rather than plastic.
