Saree Dry Cleaning for Silk & Designer Sarees

A silk or zari saree often carries both value and memories. Six or more metres of fine fabric, rich colour and metallic thread work all need careful handling. Our saree dry cleaning service is built around protecting colour, border work and drape.

About This Service

Before cleaning, we look closely at the fabric, the border, the pallu and any zari or embroidery. Delicate areas are handled gently, and marks such as food, oil or make-up are pre-treated with a method suited to silk and fine fibres.

After cleaning, the saree is pressed and folded with care so the pleats, border and pallu sit neatly. We recommend storing it wrapped in a soft cotton or muslin cloth.

What We Clean

  • Pure silk sarees
  • Banarasi and Kanjeevaram sarees
  • Chiffon and georgette sarees
  • Zari and embroidered sarees
  • Designer and party-wear sarees
  • Matching blouses and petticoats

Before You Book: Care Considerations

  • Tell us if the saree has been cleaned before and how, as older dyes can behave differently.
  • Real zari can darken over time through natural tarnishing. Cleaning cannot restore tarnished metallic thread.
  • Some hand-dyed silks may bleed colour. Where we think there is a risk, we will discuss it with you first.
  • Do not spray perfume directly onto silk; it can leave marks that are hard to remove.

Our Process

  1. Detailed inspection

Border, pallu, zari and embroidery are checked and any marks are noted.

  2. Gentle pre-treatment

Stains are treated with methods suited to silk and fine fibres.

  3. Dry cleaning

The saree is cleaned gently to protect colour and thread work.

  4. Pressing

Body, border and pallu are pressed with appropriate heat.

  5. Folding & wrapping

The saree is folded carefully and packed for protection.

Please note

Tarnished zari, fading from sunlight, old oil stains and colour bleeding that has already happened usually cannot be reversed. Heavily embellished sarees with stones or sequins fixed with adhesive may need special handling or may not be suitable for some cleaning methods.

FAQs

Saree Dry Cleaning Questions

Can silk sarees be washed at home?

Many silk sarees are best dry cleaned, as water can cause colour bleeding, water marks or a change in texture. Always check any care advice from the weaver or seller.

Will cleaning make my zari shine again?

Cleaning removes dirt but cannot reverse tarnishing of metallic zari, which is a natural reaction of the metal over time.

How should I store a silk saree?

Store it clean and dry, wrapped in cotton or muslin rather than plastic, and refold it along different lines every few months to avoid permanent creases.
